The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass to facilitate critical rehabilitation works.
The affected stretch, running from the Ole Sereni Interchange to the Ngong Road Interchange on both carriageways, will remain closed from Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 8:00 pm until Sunday, January 5, 2025, at midnight.
The closure is necessary to rehabilitate the expansion joints on all bridges within this section and reconstruct the concrete pavement of the Virtual Weighbridge.
According to KeNHA, these works are crucial for ensuring the safety and durability of the bypass.
During the closure, traffic will be diverted through alternative routes, including Mombasa Road (A8 Highway), Lang’ata Road, and Ngong Road.
Motorists are urged to familiarize themselves with the diversion routes and to exercise caution while driving around the work areas.
KeNHA has assured the public that traffic police and marshals will be on-site to assist with managing the flow of vehicles and minimizing disruptions.
Motorists are requested to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth transit during the closure period.
The Authority expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and emphasized that the works are part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of Kenya’s road infrastructure.

For further updates, motorists are encouraged to monitor official KeNHA communication channels.
