The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has reiterated its commitment to protecting the country’s road infrastructure following a routine inspection visit to the Webuye Weighbridge by officials Donald Ochieng and Samson Kibet.

The visit, aimed at assessing day-to-day operations and reviewing compliance measures, provided an opportunity for the officials to engage directly with the management team and staff responsible for overseeing axle load control along one of the country’s key transport corridors.
Beyond inspecting operational processes, the officials held discussions on service delivery, operational efficiency, and the critical role weighbridges play in preserving Kenya’s road network. The team also reviewed current axle load enforcement measures and explored ways to strengthen collaboration with transporters, drivers, and other stakeholders to enhance compliance.

Speaking during the visit, the officials emphasized that effective axle load control remains essential in reducing road damage caused by overloaded vehicles. By ensuring compliance with weight regulations, weighbridges help extend the lifespan of roads, reduce maintenance costs, and improve safety for all road users.
The engagement also highlighted the importance of continuous improvement in weighbridge operations. Through regular assessments and stakeholder consultations, KeNHA aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery while addressing emerging challenges within the transport sector.

For the staff at Webuye Weighbridge, the visit served as both an evaluation exercise and an opportunity to share experiences from the field. Such engagements allow management and enforcement teams to align their efforts towards a common goal of safeguarding public infrastructure.
As Kenya continues to invest heavily in road development and maintenance, KeNHA maintains that strong enforcement, stakeholder cooperation, and efficient weighbridge operations remain vital in protecting these investments for future generations.

The visit concluded with a renewed commitment by KeNHA to strengthen axle load control measures and foster partnerships that support the sustainable use of the national road network.
