The Kenya Air Force on Monday held a moving Requiem Mass in honour of Major Evander Ochieng Amonde and Lieutenant Daniel Mutinda Nzuva, the two officers who perished in a tragic aircraft crash during a training mission in Kwale County on June 14, 2025.
The ceremony, held at Moi Air Base in Eastleigh, was presided over by Kenya Air Force Commander Major General Fatuma Ahmed, representing Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri.
The service brought together family members, friends, senior military officers, and colleagues from across the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), all gathered to pay tribute to the fallen heroes.
In her eulogy, Maj Gen Ahmed described the late officers as patriotic, disciplined, and highly committed to their calling.

“They took to the skies in service of the nation, and their names will forever be etched in the proud legacy of our Air Force and KDF as a whole,” she said.
Also addressing the gathering were Brigadier Bernard Oluoch (Moi Air Base), Brigadier Mohamud Farah (Laikipia Air Base), and Lt Col Dickson Kitur (Aviation Centre of Excellence), all of whom lauded the officers’ professionalism and sacrifice.
Family members delivered emotional tributes, offering touching memories of the two officers beyond their military roles — as beloved sons, brothers, and husbands.
Among the dignitaries present were Deputy Commander KAF Brigadier Samwel Kipkorir, Brigadier Steven Kapkory (Embakasi), Colonel Gideon Musyoki (Wajir), and several top officials from the Defence Headquarters and the Military Wives Association of Kenya.
Major Amonde will be laid to rest on July 4 in Homa Bay County, while Lt Nzuva will be buried on June 28 in Kitui County.
May their souls rest in eternal peace.
