Kenya Approves Pfizer Vaccine For 15-year-olds

Kenya has expanded the eligibility for COVID-19 vaccination to include its adolescent population, declaring that those aged 15 to 18 can now receive their dose of the FDA-approved Pfizer (PFE.N)/BioNTech vaccine.

According to the Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe, who talked to the media on Sunday afternoon, the Pfizer vaccination will be the only one available for the 15-18 age group.

The vaccine, which has been approved for emergency use in Kenya for adults aged 15 and above by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, will see Kenya take a step further in its goal of vaccinating 30 million people by 2022.

So far, 6.3 Million Kenyans have been vaccinated, against the December 2021 target of 10 Million.

However, this number only represents 8.8 percent of the total adult population in Kenya.
