Kenya Denies Reports Of Peace-Keeping Police Deaths In Haiti

The National Police Service (NPS) has dismissed Reports that some Kenyan police officers deployed to Haiti have been killed.

The rumors surfaced online over the weekend, with a widely-circulated image claiming that seven Kenyan officers had lost their lives in the war-torn Caribbean nation.

The image showed a recent photo of Kenyan police patrolling the streets of Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, with a caption claiming that the officers had been reported dead.

The text accompanying the image read: “7 Kenya police reported dead in Haiti aki [President William Ruto] God will never forgive you.”
However, the NPS has denied these claims, terming the image as fake and unpatriotic.

The first batch of around 400 Kenyan police officers arrived in Haiti on June 25.

The deployment of Kenyan police officers to Haiti is part of a broader effort to support the Haitian government in maintaining security and stability in the country, which has been plagued by gang violence and political unrest.

The NPS has urged citizens to be cautious when sharing information online, warning that fake news can cause unnecessary panic and harm.
