Kenya has set up an intersectoral Technical Working Group to spearhead reforms in health workforce training and ensure alignment with the country’s evolving healthcare needs.
The team has been tasked with addressing pressing challenges, including gaps in professional competencies, misalignment between population health priorities and existing training programs, and the rise of unrecognized courses within the sector.
The decision was reached during a joint meeting on Professional Regulation in Health Worker Education, co-chaired by the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, and the Principal Secretary for Higher Education and Research, Beatrice Inyangala.
According to officials, the collaboration marks a significant step toward building a responsive, competent, and future-ready health workforce capable of driving Kenya’s universal health coverage agenda
