Kenya, Finland Strengthen Ties by Signing Six New Projects

    H.E. Ville Tavio, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development, Finland, was hosted by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi.

    During their conversation, they talked about the long-standing trade, development, and pro-people initiatives between Kenya and Finland in areas like water, energy, environmental conservation, and ICT.

    Trade within the East African Community has increased dramatically as a result of Finland’s support via TradeMark Africa.

    The latest Economic Partnership Agreement between the EU and Kenya would increase the trade and investment prospects between the two countries.

    Mudavadi was pleased to hear that H.E. Tavio was committed to bolstering collaboration through six new projects and that they would work together to promote peace and security in order to resolve conflicts.

    The Finnish delegation included H.E. Pirkka Tapiola, Ambassador to Kenya, Ms. Helen Airaksinen, Deputy Director General for Africa and Middle East, and Mr. Juha Savolainen, Deputy Director General for Development Policy.

    The Kenyan delegation was represented by Ambassador Rose Makena, Director for Europe and Commonwealth Directorate.
