Ruto Grants Indonesians Visa-Free Entry To Kenya

Kenya has lifted visa restrictions on Indonesian passport holders after bilateral talks with Indonesia’s leader, Joko Widodo.

President William Ruto stated that the relaxation and progressive abolition of visa restrictions was paramount for Kenya’s openness for business.

Kenya has extended visa-free entry to all holders of Indonesian passports, including diplomatic and service passport holders.

The talks focused on trade, investment, higher education, basic education, and vaccine development.

Nairobi signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with Jakarta and a Letter of Intent to strengthen collaboration.

Kenya committed to negotiating a preferential Trade Agreement with Indonesia, complying with East African Community (EAC) and continental trade regulations.

Ruto also discussed the importance of entering a Bilateral Investment Treaty to provide a stable and predictable investment environment, a precondition for accelerated Private Secretor Investment.

The joint teams are tasked to finalize the elaboration of this instrument within the next 90 days.
