Kenya Launches National Polio Vaccination Drive To Protect Children’s Health

In a concerted effort to safeguard the health and well-being of its young population, Kenya has announced the launch of a comprehensive National Polio Vaccination Drive.

The critical initiative was unveiled following a media and stakeholders meeting today to address the urgent need to prevent the resurgence of polio in the country.

During the meeting, Mary Muthoni, the Principal Secretary of Public Health and Professional Standards, reaffirmed Kenya’s steadfast commitment to eradicating polio from its population.

Notably, Kenya has maintained a polio-free status for an impressive decade, a testament to the nation’s unwavering resolve.

She said the National Polio Vaccination Drive aims to protect a total of 7.4 million children under the age of five. The drive will be executed in three distinct phases, with the initial phase scheduled from August 24th to 28th.

During this period, the campaign will prioritize vaccination efforts in Kiambu, Nairobi, Kajiado, and Garissa counties.

The launch of this extensive vaccination campaign marks a pivotal moment in Kenya’s ongoing mission to secure the health and future of its youngest citizens.
