In solidarity with their summoned bosses, a group of Kenya Airways pilots appeared at the Milimani Courts on Tuesday morning.

The pilots were responding to an Employment and Labor Relations Court decision ordering officials to show the reason for contempt of court for the ongoing strike that has halted Kenya Airline’s operations.

The petitioner notified the court that the pilots disregarded instructions given by the Judge on October 31, 2022, preventing pilots from striking in accordance with the ex-parte injunction.

However, the pilots told the court through their Advocates that the court orders were served at 4:40 p.m., but the orders were invalid and full of faults because the specified officials were not afforded the ability to file their reply.

Because the court could not determine if they were in contempt of court orders, they were ordered to show cause why they should not be punished before their lawyers filed responses.

The court is set to rule today at 2:30 p.m. on whether the Pilots’ acts constituted contempt of court order.
