The Kenya Pipeline Company has finally confined the oil spill discovered on Thursday along the Sinendet-Kisumu pipeline in the Kanyamedha area.
According to the Pipeline Company’s Managing Director, Macharia Irungu, the Emergency Response Team was dispatched to the site following the incident, when emergency measures were promptly launched.
“Among them is the containment and recovery of hydrocarbons through reticulation of the product back to Kisumu’s pump station (PS) 28 to prevent it from spreading further,” Irungu explained.
He asked residents to keep away from the site so that the KPC crew could make repairs to reduce the dangers of the leakage.
