A police officer has been arrested for illegal logging after being found trafficking charcoal in a police lorry.
Accord to a police report, a joint team of officers from Kenya Forest Service and police officers from Kitale police station intercepted a police lorry registration number GKB 813T belonging to Turkana North sub-county.
Upon searching the lorry, police officers recovered 7 bags of charcoal and 150 bags of Aloe Vera plants weighing 5 tons
The driver of the lorry, PC/D Gilbert Mbilivili, and the owner of the consignment, Mr. Jelal Musa were placed under lawful custody.

KFS has waged war against illegal logging in an effort to protect Kenya’s water towers and improve forest cover.
The officers will be arraigned in court.
