A family is in distress over their father who disappeared after being ejected of a Madaraka Express train.
According to the family who reported the matter to the police, the old man had been questioned for presenting a Mombasa ticket that didn’t match his identity.
The family added that the ticket was purchased using his son’s identity, and had been booked for a Mombasa to Nairobi train.
He was then left in the middle of nowhere, oblivious of his alleged mental condition and memory loss.
According to the Kenya Railways, the man was ejected from the train coach at the Athi River SGR station after the man did not have a phone to confirm his relatives.
In the statement shared on social media, Kenya Railways acknowledged the oversight, pushing the blame to the family for not disclosing his mental condition at the Nairobi terminus.
A missing persons report has been filed, and the Kenya Railways has announced it will co-operate with the police to reunite Mr. Mwangi with his kin.
