Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe in an early briefing, announced 8 new coronavirus cases, raising the number of those infected to 363 – By Gerald Gekara.
4 of the new cases were recorded in Nairobi County, while 4 were recorded in Mombasa, areas already marked as hotspots in the country.
However, the ministry confirmed 8 new recoveries, raising the total of those tested negative at 114.
The stern CS clarified on the opening of restaurants, announcing that only restaurants observing the anti-coronavirus health practices will be allowed to operate.
“Restaurants and eateries to operate between 5am to 5pm and strictly observe social distancing as advised in the guidelines” said CS Kagwe.
Kagwe further defended government actions against the virus, saying that the government will continue to act in response to experiences Kenya has learnt from other countries.
“We are learning from experiences elsewhere, countries are opening up much earlier than we think we should, other countries have delayed…but we want to make our own measures based on our own experiences and based on what we have seen as a people,” he said.
