Covid-19: Health CS commits 1 Billion to support new Blood Advisory Committee

The Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced a 1 billion boost to the health sector in a bid to support the newly unveiled blood advisory committee – By Gerald Gekara.

The ministry will be targeting 900,000 units of blood inabid to boost Kenya’s blood bank, under the blood advisory committee.

“Our target should be over nine hundred thousand units of blood or at least over seven hundred thousand. I am appealing to the members of the public to air their views to the blood advisory committee,” said Mutahi Kagwe.

The Advisory Committee on supply and utilization of blood and blood products will be chaired by Former Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Abbas Gullet.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe confirmed 8 new cases of the Coronavirus, raising Kenya’s infection toll to 363. All of the 8 new cases were of Kenyan decent, and were recorded in Mombasa and Nairobi counties.

The stern CS continued to urge Kenyans to adhere to measures geared towards reducing fatalities and infections in the country.
