Kenya has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers, set to take place from September 4 to 16 in Nairobi.
The tournament, initially planned for Dar es Salaam, was awarded to Kenya following a successful bid by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). It marks the second time the country will host the regional competition, having first done so in 2021 when Vihiga Queens lifted the title.
Eight teams will battle for the single CECAFA ticket to the continental finals, with Kenyan champions Kenya Police Bullets FC carrying the hosts’ hopes.
The Bullets will be looking to go one better after finishing runners-up to Ethiopia’s CBE FC in last year’s edition.
“We are happy that the tournament is returning to Kenya after the inaugural one in 2021,” said CECAFA Competitions Director Yusuf Mossi.
The participating clubs include:
• Kenya Police Bullets FC (Kenya)
• CBE FC (Ethiopia)
• Yei Joint Stars FC (South Sudan)
• Top Girls Academy FC (Burundi)
• JKT Queens (Tanzania)
• Kampala Queens (Uganda)
• Rayon Sports Women FC (Rwanda)
• JKU Princesses FC (Zanzibar)
Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, and Djibouti will not field teams in this edition.
CECAFA confirmed the competition would conclude before September 18 to allow player availability for the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
