Through Community-Led Monitoring (CLM), Harry Kimtai, Principal Secretary for the State Department of Medical Services, emphasised the vital role that communities and community organisations have played in the reform of Kenya’s healthcare system.
During today’s Community-Led Monitoring Debriefing Breakfast Meeting, the PS stressed in his remarks that CLM is more than just a project because it emphasises accountability and inclusiveness and learns from Namibian and South African experiences.
Mr. Kimtai emphasised the significance of community engagement in local healthcare programmes, emphasising that this is a major force behind Universal Health Coverage, which would improve the efficiency and accountability of healthcare.
In order to support and influence the future of healthcare, he advocated for quick evaluations of ongoing CLM projects, the establishment of an oversight committee with a diverse membership, and active stakeholder participation. “The government is fully committed to this initiative,” he said.
