Kenyan teacher scoops Prestigious Continental Teacher Prize

Mr. Erick Ademba, A Kenyan teacher on Wednesday was awarded the first Continental Teacher Prize by African Union (AU) his outstanding performance.

Mr. Ademba of Asumbi Girls Secondary School in Homa Bay County, received certificates and a 10,000 U.S. dollars (Ksh.1 million) at a ceremony held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia’s.

He was awarded alongside Augusta Lartey-Young, from Presbyterian Boy’s Secondary School in Ghana and Gladys K., who is also a teacher from Uganda.

Ms. Beatrice Njenga, who is the current Head of AU Education Division, the Teacher Prize is instrumental in contributing to the success of Agenda 2063 and continental Education strategy for Africa (CESA)which is to enrich the status and the integrity of the teacher.
