Kenyan woman gets 33 million from Jack Ma

Chebet Lesanu a Kenyan woman has emerged the winner of the second edition of the jack Ma foundation in the Africa Business Heroes 2020 where she won 33 million.

Chebet is the founder and CEO of Bright Green Renewable Energy which took lead in over 22,000 contestants across Africa

It is a social enterprise that turns urban waste to clean energy charcoals for households, schools and also farmers and hospitals

She said that winning the competition would solve problems for more than 800 million people in Africa who can’t access clean energy.

“it will mean that voices of 800 million people in Africa still don’t have access to clean cooking fuel have been heard and they will get the support they need to improve their lives

The competition saw 54 nations in the agriculture field, ecommerce, fashion, health, renewable energy and also ICT

To get the winner the contestants were required to do an interview at the semi-finale speech.

One John Magiro of Hydro power took part in the competition where they specialize in providing off-grid access to electricity in Muranga County

The contestants were evaluated on their ability to translate their innovations and ideas into sustainable and robust business model and to also create positive impact to their communities.
