Kenyans angered by Leaders flouting COVID-19 rule on gatherings

On July 30th, President Uhuru Kenyatta made a firm stance on following the laid down guidelines on COVID-19, blasting politicians for taking part in breaking the law – By Gerald Gekara.

However, this week has seen multiple leaders, including the President himself, trashing COVID-19 guidelines concerning social distancing.

While on a mission to commission level 3 hospitals in informal settlements, Uhuru was pictured addressing several multitudes that clearly did not follow social distancing guidelines. A sizeable amount of people were also seen without masks on.

The State House is yet to comment on the matter.

In another meeting attended by the Deputy President William Ruto, a host of community leaders from Kajiado were bundled in a tent where the deputy president addressed them. He later stood for a photo session with a section of the attendants, with each of the setting done without observance to social distancing.

While appearing in Kericho for a regular press briefing on the state of COVID-19 pandemic, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe was addressing a multitude that had come to listen to him.

The irony of communicating Coronavirus guidelines and breaking them at all times, angered a section of Kenyans.

Netizen claimed the leaders were practicing selective law enforcement by arresting Kenyans found doing the same.
