Kericho County On Spot Over Misappropriation Of Sh13.7M Raised For Victims Of Londiani Accident

    Kericho Deputy Governor Fred Kirui has requested that authorities investigate county government officials for the misappropriation of Sh13.7 million raised for Londiani junction accident victims.

    According to Kirui, only Sh5.7 million of the money raised on July 4 at the Londiani stadium reached the families of the victims.

    Each of the 53 families who lost a loved one in the accident received Sh90,000, while those who were injured received Sh60,000.

    According to a document shared with the media by the DG, Sh3.5 million was paid to Kericho County Referral Hospital and Londiani Sub-County Hospital.

    Governor Erick Mutai stated during the fundraiser that the county government would cover the hospital and mortuary bills.

    Sh2.9 million was paid to a tent company, another Sh411,000 to another company for the provision of tents in a Kericho hotel, and Sh100,000 for a lunch for 100 people.

    The County Public Service management received Sh423,000 for transportation, refreshments, and printing.

    In the document, the County Commissioner was also given Sh300,000 for fuel, lunch, and team allowances.
