Kevin Oliech brother to former harambee stars ace passes on

Former Harambee Stars and Mathare United striker Kevin Opiyo Oliech has passed on.

The former international has been suffering from cancer for the last four years and succumbed to the disease in a hospital in Germany. He was a younger brother to Kenya legend Dennis Oliech and Andrew Oyombe.

Yeboah, as he is commonly known, will be remembered for guiding the Slum Boys to their maiden Kenyan Premier League title.

“We would like to pass our condolences to the Oliech family following the death of Kevin “Yeboah” Oliech on Sunday evening,” Mathare posted on their Facebook page.

“Kevin was part of our 2008 title-winning squad and always gave his best whenever he donned the yellow and green jersey. He continued the legacy of the Oliech family at Mathare United adding to Dennis Oliech’s goals and Andrew Oyombe’s composure in midfield.

“His death is a big blow to the Mathare United fraternity and we would like to urge all our alumni to support the Oliech family during these tough times.”

Oliech also played for Tusker FC, Nairobi City Stars, Ushuru and Thika United.
