Kiambu County Commissioner Forbids Street Parties in the County

Joshua Nkanatha, Kiambu County Commissioner, outlawed the holding of unlicensed parties on the side of the road. The CC observed that most parties organised there, primarily by drivers, use the cover of their vehicles to engage in immoral behaviour and unlawfully consume unlicensed alcohol.

Nkanatha identified certain regions, such as Githunguri, Limuru, and some tea plantations in Kiambaa Area, as the most notorious areas engaging in the vice while giving President William Ruto’s speech during the Jamhuri Day celebrations on Tuesday at Kiringiti International Stadium as the nation marked 60 years since independence.

“In the last two weeks, we have arrested about 30 young people who are engaging in these parties in unauthorised places, coming and making noise, and with their own Disco Jockers (DJs), and I want to warn them that these street parties are illegal,” said the CC.

Nkanatha stated that unless they obtain an operating authorization from the governor’s office, anybody who enter the county by driving or riding into the numerous tea estates, which are sparsely populated, with the intention of taking drives, should stop.

Also, the County Commissioner’s office was tasked by Kiambu Women Representative Ann Wamuratha to investigate the problem of drugs and alcohol in the county, citing the famed Banana neighbourhood as evidence.
