Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi on Friday, October 28, toured the 697 acres of land surrendered by Del Monte Kenya Ltd., guided by the Del Monte Director for Agriculture Jorge Miranda.

According to Wamatangi, this followed the acquisition of land documents, public participation by the locals, and proper planning; land allocated to the county could be used to establish part of the 50,000 affordable housing units in collaboration with the national government, build schools, hospitals, sports facilities, decongest Thika, and meet other social and infrastructural needs.
“However, the stated land is divided into four parts, located at different places, complicating the foreseeable future plans on the land,” he added.
“Hopefully, together with the locals and all parties, we will have the best arrangement that will benefit the people of Kiambu and transform Thika,” he added.
