Kiambu residents applaud the government for speedy Western bypass progress

Efforts to divert traffic from Nairobi’s city center have been stepped up with the continued construction works on the Sh17 billion Western Bypass.

However, the major beneficiaries of the 17km project have lauded the government for opening up Kiambu county to major redevelopment.

The road starts from Gitaru and terminates at Ruaka near the luxurious Two Rivers Mall in Kiambu County.

Residents in the region have testified quadrupled profits after the increase in vehicular movement in the area.

“I am happy that the president has finally remembered us. We lived as though a forgotten community,” Said Carol a resident of Karura.

Others were grateful that the project has opened up business opportunities for residents.

“Am grateful because my business is going to grow once the project is completed since many vehicles are going to use this route,” added Carol.

On completion, the contractor China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) will improve markets located on the road’s mandate.

Markets and towns including Ruaka, Wangige, Gitaru, and Kiambu will open up to more investment opportunities.

Transportation of agricultural products shall also be made easy.

The Nairobi central business district is set to be decongested as motorists will opt for the western bypass to access other towns like Kiambu, Ruiru, and Thika.
