A 22-year-old woman from Kibra in Nairobi has been charged with manslaughter after the investigations proved she stabbed her neighbour two times resulting in her death.
The tensed Elizabeth Akinyi Otieno was arraigned before Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi and Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi where she was charged with unlawfully killing her neighbor Maureen Apondi Nyarindi on August 27, 2023.
The suspect in the manslaughter, Elizabeth Akinyi on a fateful day was seated in her house preparing supper when suddenly her neighbour Maureen stormed the house where a fight broke out.
In the process, she stabbed the deceased twice in the stomach.
A witness in the case alleged that he heard commotion and then went to the scene only to find the deceased in a pool of blood.
He later called a motorbike and took the deceased to Mbagathi Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.
The husband of the deceased would later tell police that he was out watching football when he got a report that his wife had been stabbed.
The suspect denied the charges informing the court that she never killed her neighbor and that she (the deceased) went to her house but she did not kill her.
The court ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody pending a bail/bond determination.
