Kibwana unveils Germany partnership in Kibwezi Water Project

At least 10,000 residents of Athi Kamunyuni, Kibwezi East, can now access clean portable drinking water thanks to a partnership between the county government and Welt Hunger Hilfe- a Germany based Non-Governmental Organization.

The KES 18 million water project officially commissioned on Tuesday by governor Kivutha Kibwana and WHH country director Kevin Shingles comprises of a bore hole, 100 cubic meters distribution tank and 14.3km extension pipeline with four water points at different parts of the location.

The project also comprises of 36 solar panels installed at the pump station for sustainable water distribution, assuring residents of uninterrupted daily water supply.

Mr Shingles announced an additional commitment of Sh 68 million for the continued extension of the water pipeline to cover more kilometres and bring water near people’s homes in alignment with the sustainable development goals.
