Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has launched the Kilifi Electronic Development Application and Management system (Ki-DAMS).
This is an automated E- government–to-business services that will make it easier and faster to apply process, pay and acquire several permits.
Speaking during the launch at Silver-Palm hotel in Kilifi town, Mr Kingi said the county will continue to align projects and programs aimed at enhancing service delivery.
“My administration will continue to enhance seamless service delivery. Creating an investor-friendly environment to attract more investors into Kilifi County and create jobs for locals,” the governor said.
County Development Control Officer Paul Wambua said the shift from manual processing of development permits among other services is a milestone to end delays.
Enhanced Service delivery
“For a long period since devolution, our system has been manual to the sense that a client has to prepare applications and then physical present them to our offices. Then, developers in Kaloleni and Rabai sub counties had to submit their applications in Mariakani town. Those in Malindi and Magarini had to submit their applications in Malindi while those who tend to develop within Kilifi North and Kilifi South had to submit their application at the Kilifi town headquarters,” said Mr Wambua.
The e-DAMS system has various automated government–to-business services that make it easier and faster to apply and pay and acquire several permits. Services being offered on this platform are dependent on the type of application being submitted and the professionals making the submission.
“For example, registered architects, engineers and contractors can only apply for a construction permit, building inspection and occupation permit, whereas registered planners and surveyors can only apply for the planning certificates like subdivision among other services,” said Mr Wambua.
No Physical Contact
The system according to Mr Wambua has been designed is to ensure that there is no physical contact with the clients and somebody can make their application from the comfort of their seats regardless of where they are in the whole world.
“With the click of a button the officer on accessing the system will be able to see all the applications that have been submitted and make all the comments that are required,” he said.
The client after attaching all their applications on the system, there is going to be constant communication, that includes notifications on amendments, invoicing and final a print notification of the permit, a service one can print from their comfort of their desks and not for them to come to county offices for the same,” he added.
