Kilifi County starts Covid-19 vaccination exercise as it gets 4,500 jabs from the ministry of health

Kilifi County government has officially launched the Covid -19 vaccination exercise in the County.  

This is after the health department received 4,500 Jabs of AstraZeneca vaccines from the Ministry of Health.  

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi said in a statement that the exercise will go a long way in bolstering efforts towards fighting the pandemic.  

The devolved government has been in the forefront in addressing the measures taken by the ministry of health to mitigate the spread of covid-19 pandemic in the region. 

Some of the measures include stopping matatus from carrying more than the allowed passengers entering in and moving out of the county. It has also stalled water tanks in all its market centres for people to wash their hands before entering the markets for their daily errands. 

Most of those targeted in this phase are the health workers identified as frontline workers in the war against the Corona pandemic. 

“We are targeting to vaccinate our front-line health workers, teachers and security officers who are the main players in fighting this common enemy,” the governor said.  

Mr Kingi said further to ccompliment the efforts of ensuring the vaccination exercise goes on well across the county, the county has trained adequate vaccinators who will be deployed to various vaccination centres. 

“While we continue to encourage our sfront-line health workers to voluntarily take part in the exercise, I would like to assure them of its safety as the vaccines have been tested and approved by World Health Organization (WHO) as well as our very own Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI),” said governor Kingi.
