Speaking in his office after receiving a one-million-shilling donation from SBM Bank towards the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, the governor forging ties with the private sector for development and economic growth has been one of his agenda he has highly upheld since his coming into office.

Speaking in his office during a courtesy call by the bank officials, the governor said the donation by the bank was clear sign of how true partnerships between governments and the private sector should be.

The SBM Bank delegation was led by Ms Jedidah Kabiru, the Relationship Manager, Public Sector.

“On behalf of Kilifi County, I extend our deep appreciation to SBM for this magnanimous gesture. This kind of partnership helps in cementing ties between the public and private sectors and harnessing their efforts in the delivery of services to the people,” the Governor said.

“We are not yet out of the wood concerning the pandemic and any efforts geared towards the same is appreciated,” he said.

Governor Kingi said the donation will go a long way in complimenting the county efforts towards fighting the pandemic.

“We as a County have strived to bring together both the government and private sector into round table discussions pertaining investments opportunities in Kilifi and how the county can work hand in hand with the private sector to spur economic growth,” he said.

He said that whatever policies the county makes have either a negative or positive impact on business and investments in the county hence need to have rope in the private sector to such engagements.

“Whatever we do as a county has an impact be it positive or negative and therefore all the policies we do as government must be put for discussion with the business people,” he said.

Governor Kingi said he was looking forward to more bonding and even stronger ties between the SBM Bank and the Kilifi County government.

“This kind of gesture shows that indeed our problem is your problem and through this kind of partnership we should be able to forge even a tighter relationship between us and the Bank. This is a good beginning and I believe going forward, we should be seeing even a stronger partnership and bank,” he said.
