There was panic at the Mariakani Barracks in Kilifi County after a military guard shot and killed a naked man who violated the facility’s security details.
Yesterday 09 Dec 2022 at about 0110hrs, unknown naked male adult civilian gained entrance into the 15KR camp through the east side by climbing over the perimeter fence and into the magazine.
Upon being challenged at a range of 70 meters while on the magazine parapet he declined and instead continued advancing towards the sentry post.
At about 50 meters he started shouting and running towards the sentry box prompting magazine post guard to fire the first shot when the individual reached 20 meters injuring him on the right side of the neck.
However, instead of stopping he continued charging towards the sentry prompting the guard post to fire a second shot at a distance of 5 meters hitting him on the chest and killing him instantly.
On clearance patrol and follow up where he might have gained entrance through, footsteps were seen coming towards Mnyenzeni direction and an under garment was also found along the fence 800M from the magazine.
The Military and civil police visited and processed the scene. The deceased body has been taken to Mombasa Coast general County Hospital morgue at about 0850hrs.
