Kimani Ichung’wah: Uhuru, Raila Are Holding Demos To Derail Ongoing Investigations

President William Ruto -led Kenya Kwanza One Kenya Alliance has come out to criticise the Monday protests by Azimio la Umoja.

In a press briefing on Tuesday, led by National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung’wa, the Alliance claimed that Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was sponsoring chaos in order to avoid ongoing investigations into the looting of the country’s finances during his regime.

“Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake brother Raila Odinga are planning the demonstrations because they want to derail ongoing investigations on the crimes committed under the previous regime.

“What Raila is doing is only equivalent to what the bandits parts of North Rift are doing. Mr Odinga is involved in a scheme of urban banditry and he must be held to account,” Ichung’wah added.

They also pressured the Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, to arrest Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga.

“We ask the IG of Police not just to arrest the small boys who are paid to riot. If the buck stops at the door of Odinga, go for Odinga, if the buck stops at his sponsor’s door, go for them,” Ichung’wah noted.

Raila and his Azimio La Umoja brigade, according to the MPs, broke the law by declaring an illegal public holiday.

The Alliance also termed the Monday showdown ‘chaotic’ and hypocritical that was nothing but a campaign of “large-scale urban banditry”.

Ichungwa accused Raila of leading “a battalion of hooligans and goons into violent confrontation, looting and destruction under the pretext of peaceful demonstration”.

“Raila has indeed indicted himself as an economic terrorist and saboteur, a serial hypocritical liar and failed leader,” Ichung’wa said.

Ichungwa who is Kikuyu Member of Parliament questioned why there was no petition delivered to any government office as earlier promised.

“There was no march or delegation to State House as promised, not unless Raila lost his bearing and searched for Statehouse or Harambee House in Nairobi’s Mathare and sections of Eastlands,” he said.
