The Senate will hold a Special Session on Friday to decide the fate of Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi gazetted December 30 for the sitting on Wednesday.
The House will consider the Special Committee’s report on the proposed impeachment of the Governor of Meru County.
The panel, chaired by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, wrapped up its hearings on Wednesday and will now retreat to write its final report.
If the committee finds the governor guilty of any of the state charges, it will table its report for plenary vote.
If the committee finds Mwangaza not guilty of all charges, the proposed impeachment will fail and the governor will remain in office.
“Notice is given to all Senators that, in accordance with Standing Order 33 (1) of the Senate Standing Orders, I have appointed Friday, December 30, 2022, as a day for a special sitting of the Senate at the request of the Senate Majority Leader and with the support of the requisite number of Senators.
