World’s greatest Marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge is the winner of the 2022 Tokyo Men’s Marathon.
Despite a false turn after 10 kilometers, Kipchoge put on a masterclass, shattering the Tokyo Marathon course record as well as the Japanese soil record.
He stepped on the pedal at the 35-kilometer mark and didn’t look back as he distanced himself from compatriot Amos Kipruto, reaching the finish line in 2:02:40, only one minute slower than his world record.
Kipchoge now has four Abbott World Marathon Majors under his belt, with only New York and Boston remaining.
The two-time Olympic marathon champion broke the world record at the 10K mark.
