Kirinyaga: Man Dies After Collapsing During KDF Recruitment

A man has been reported dead in Kirinyaga after collapsing during the KDF recruitment exercise at Kianyaga Stadium on Tuesday.

Francis Wachira Kabuga passed out as he entered the stadium’s gate after completing the last lap. First aid was given to him before being sent to the Kianyaga sub-county hospital.

Later, as his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital, where he passed on that evening. According to reports by police, they are awaiting the completion of post-mortem testing on the man to establish the cause of his death.

The deceased was running with other recruits when he experienced problems and passed away after being taken to Kerugoya Hospital, according to Kirinyaga East sub-county police chief Millicent Ochuka.

“He was running with other recruits before he developed complications and died after being taken to Kerugoya Hospital. Right now, his body is lying at Kibugi Funeral Home in Kutus waiting for a postmortem to establish what caused his death,” Millicent Ochuka said.

The deceased’s family expressed their shock at the loss on Wednesday.

The family expressed their hope that 25-year-old kin Kabuga would follow his passion and enlist in the KDF.

The KDF is looking to hire General Duty Recruits, Specialist Officers, Tradesmen/Women, Defence Forces Constables, and General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets (Regular and Graduate degree holders). For positions as Specialist Officers and Tradesmen/Women, all interested individuals had to submit an online application.
