Kisii Governor Arati Claims His Life Is In Danger

Kisii Governor Simba Arati has called for a probe into what he claims is a scheme by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kisii County to arrest him and some of his allies.

Arati, who made a statement at the DCI headquarters in Nairobi with his lawyers, Governor James Orengo and senior counsel Otiende Amolo, believes the conspiracy entails searches of his properties in Kisii and Nairobi for alleged illegal firearm ownership.

Orengo told the media on Monday that they had sent to the DCI headquarters an audio recording of Kisii County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) reportedly discussing a conspiracy to plant firearms at Arati’s home.

“A copy of that video, in which a CCIO in Kisii is heard providing directions and insights into how guns, firearms, and other items are going to be planted on governor Arati, has been provided to the police,” Orengo stated.

“In part, this is to ensure that Governor Arati is not allowed the space to carry out his duties as Governor of Kisii,” he continued.

Senior attorney Otiende Amolo stated that the DCI had committed to looking into the case.

It’s a distinct grievance. Governor Arati has filed a grievance against the DCI with the DCI. Since they promised us there would be action, we are waiting for it to happen since we may choose to enforce the law ourselves.
