Ezekiel Machogu, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for Kisii governor, has vowed to challenge Simba Arati’s victory.
Machogu claimed that the Kisii electoral process was marred by serious irregularities.
According to Machogu, some polling stations recorded more votes than the registered number of voters.
“Interestingly, even the votes cast in some polling stations and constituencies are more than the number of registered votes,” the Nyaribari Masaba MP said.
Furthermore, Machogu stated that this type of manipulation makes a mockery of a free and fair election because it fails to reflect the will of the people.
He claimed that a Kisii Cabinet Secretary premeditated and publicly stated a month ago that elections had already been won, and that this has come to pass.
“With such a flawed process, the Kisii people are the biggest losers because one can force himself into a position of leadership, but service delivery will always be difficult.” said Machogu.
“Let the Kisii people prepare themselves for the most mediocre leadership in modern history,” Machogu said.
Machogu stated that he is considering going to court once the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declares the final results.
“Going to court will be necessary in order for the truth to be revealed…that is an entirely incorrect method of forcing oneself into leadership,” he said.
According to constituency tallies, Dagoretti North MP and ODM candidate Simba Arati was on his way to a landslide victory, with Machogu trailing.
