On Monday night, a police officer allegedly lobbed a teargas canister into a nightclub in Kisumu East Sub-County.
The officer from Kasagam police station is said to have earlier lobbed another canister within a hotel compound in the Nyamasaria area.
According to a police report, the officer stormed a lodging at 3 a.m., claiming that his girlfriend had entered there with another man.
He was denied entry and immediately lobbed teargas before fleeing on a motorcycle.
The officer later went to a nightclub along the Kisumu-Nairobi highway and lobbed another canister, but was apprehended by members of the public.
He was attacked by the mob and was rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he is nursing his injuries.
