Authorities in Kisumu have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against crime following the detention of a suspect linked to a cache of crude weapons found at his residence in the Manyatta area.
The suspect was arrested at the Kondele Police Station after police uncovered a collection of weapons, including machetes, knives, military boots, radios, and swords, believed to have been utilized in the commission of various crimes.
Kisumu County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro announced the arrest during a press briefing at the Kondele Police Station, where the confiscated items were displayed.

Commander Mutoro revealed that the suspect was apprehended after a well-coordinated ambush by law enforcement, acting on a tip-off from the community.
“The suspect’s activities have been under close surveillance, and we are actively pursuing his accomplice, who remains at large. We have obtained crucial leads regarding their whereabouts,” said Mutoro.
He emphasized that criminal gangs have no place in Kisumu, underscoring the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had been operating from three different houses in the Manyatta area, using one property as a storage site for weapons.
The discovery of the weapons has raised concerns within the community, prompting police to assure residents of enhanced security measures.
The police commander confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned in court shortly, as the investigation continues to unearth more details about the gang’s operations and potential partners in crime.
Residents of Kisumu, relieved by the police’s proactive measures, have expressed their gratitude for the swift action that led to the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of the weapons.
