A police officer who was injured while confronting protesters in Kisumu on Thursday, March 30, 2023, has succumbed to his injuries.
The officer identified as CPL Ben Oduor attached to Keroka police station in Nyamira county was on duty in Kisumu yesterday around the Jamia supermarket area where the incident occurred.
According to a police report, the said officer was seriously injured after they were overwhelmed by the charging rioters who pelted them with stones after they ran out of teargas.
He was rushed to the Aga Khan hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment at ICU at around 2151hrs.
“The body is lying at the said hospital morgue awaiting postmortem, ” part of the report reads.
