Residents of Kavuvwani B village, Kavuvwani location, Kitui County, are in shock after a three-year-old child has lost his life after allegedly consuming the remains of a green mamba snake.
According to a police report, the minor’s grandfather, Salim Mwendwa, had killed and burnt the snake within their house compound.
Tragically, the child’s grandmother, Margret Nzangi Mwendwa, allowed the minor to consume the snake’s remains while under her care.
The grandfather, Salim, was quick to report the incident to the Mwingi Police station, prompting officers to visit the scene and document the events.
The body of the child has been taken to Mwingi Level IV Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The police investigation into this incident is ongoing, and it is hoped that it will provide answers to the family and the community.
