Police Officers from Kitui central were alerted of the incident and rushed to the scene and found the lifeless body of the child lying on a mattress with visible physical injuries on his legs and cheeks.
The scene was processed by the crime scene personnel and body moved to Kitui General Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
The mother is detained at Kitui central police station for processing before arraignment.
The National Police Service cautioned parents against meting brutal force to their children in the name of punishment.
“The National Police service wishes to advise parents to correct their children in a way that does not expose them to harm. We urge members of the public to report any form of child abuse at our Gender and Children Desks.”
