Joseph Onyango Joel Migundo, a servant at Kenyatta Hospital was arraigned in Court today over allegations of stealing from the said hospital.

Mr. Onyango is said to have stolen 12 bottles of Human Albumin solution worthy Ksh 81,600.

He is reported to have committed the crime on diverse dates between 26th October 2021 and 9th December 2021.

The medical solution is said to have come into possession of the accused person by virtue of employment.  He was also charged with handling stolen property.

The accused denied all the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh 100,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 50,000.

He will again be arraigned in Court on 27th January 2022 for pretrial.

The case comes months after the National health facility was put on limelight over insecurity of patients.

Last year a Nairobi Court allowed police officers to detain a woman who was accused of attempting to steal a baby from the hospital.

She was attempting to gain entry at the facility’s labor ward.

The arrested woman had told the police she is barren and had been desperately looking for a child over the years.

It is the high time that the ministry of health works round the clock to win trust from the public over what is being done to curb similar crimes in health facilities across the country.
