Koderobara Dormitory Razed Down in suspected Arson attack

A boarding dormitory at Koderobara Boys Secondary School, Rongo Constituency, Migori County has been razed down by fire. – By John Mutiso.

The cruel fire that broke up at around 9.00 pm on February 9, 2021, is said to have burnt everything in the dormitory with all the attempts to save anything bearing no fruit.

“Every attempt to save the students’ boxes and other belongings have born no fruit because of the fire had grown wild and out of our control, added to the abscence of the brigade ,” said the source.

The inferno occured while all students were in class for their evening remedials only to realize the flames while it was late.

Investigations have been launched to know the exact cause of the flames.

“Up to now, we have not known the exact cause of the flames as this is not the first time the dormitory has burned down,” said Mr. Odero from the scene.

A student has been rushed to Migori Sub county hospital for treatments following the domitory fire incident at Koderobara Secondary School.

According to Mr. Moses, a source at the scene at the time of incident, this is the third time of fire outbreak at Koderobara Secondary School.

The last fire incident left one student dead and other major damages on the students properties.

The Deputy county commissioner, Mr. Matthew Mwiti, held a security meeting at Rongo with stakeholders to find ways of countering such issues should they happen.
