Kenya Power says a technical hitch in the National grid caused the major power outage that engulfed parts of Rift Valley, Nairobi, Nyanza regions at around 6.30pm. – By Gerald Gekara
Through a statement to the public, Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) stated that the National grid had experienced a technical default that affected two major lines that supply the forementioned areas.
“We would like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused and reassure them that our technical team is currently working to identify the root cause and restore power to the affected areas.”
The power black out was reported in Nairobi, Ruaka, Kakamega, Narok, Timau, Isiolo, Nyahururu, and Kitengela.
The black out however comes hardly 24 hours before another scheduled power supply cut, to allow for routine maintanance.
