Kenya Airways has given pilots until tomorrow 11.30 a.m. to return to work or face termination.
KQ CEO Allan Kilavuka told the press on Saturday morning that at least 10,000 passengers have been affected as 400 Kenya Airways pilots go on strike, effectively shutting down Kenya’s national flag carrier.
He stated that the executive council members of the pilots’ union have called in sick to protect themselves while their members are on strikeSimultaneously, pilots have insisted on the strike, apologizing to passengers.
According to Kalpa, the onus is on KQ management to break the stalemate.
“Kalpa is willing to listen to proposals in genuine negotiations,” says the lobby’s secretary general, Muriithi Nyagah, in a statement issued on Saturday.
Kenya Airways pilots’ strike, according to Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen, is economic sabotage since KQ had obtained Court Injunction stopping the strike.
