KRA Appoints New Leaders as Rispah Simiyu Moves to Treasury

By Michelle Ndaga

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced new leadership appointments aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and improving service delivery.

In a statement issued Thursday, KRA confirmed the appointment of Nancy Ng’etich as Commissioner for the Shared Services Department. Ng’etich, who has been serving in the role in an acting capacity since February 2023, has spearheaded major organizational reforms, including aligning human resources to KRA’s 9th Corporate Plan and advancing technology adoption to boost revenue mobilization.

Ng’etich previously worked as Deputy Commissioner of Policy and International Affairs in the Customs and Border Control Department and as Senior Manager for Customs and Tax Advisory at Ernst & Young LLP.

KRA credited her with playing a key role in customs reforms, trade facilitation, and negotiations for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and East African Community customs policies.

She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya, the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries, and the Kenya Institute of Management.

In a separate change, Doreen Mbingi, Deputy Commissioner of Compliance East and South of Nairobi, has been appointed to lead the Large and Medium Taxpayers Department in an acting capacity as KRA seeks a substantive appointment.

Meanwhile, Rispah Simiyu, who has served as Commissioner for Domestic Taxes, has been seconded to the Ministry of National Treasury and Economic Planning, marking a significant transition in her public service career.

KRA says the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to modernize operations and strengthen its revenue collection mandate.
