Laikipia: Cattle Rustlers Raid Primary School

GSU Officers on Patrol

Unknown number of armed assailants invaded a school in Laikipia North Sub County, stealing nine cows from the institution.

Security personnel in the region, however, responded to locals’ alarm calls and tracked the cattle rustlers.

The incident occurred at the Lukusero primary school in Mukogodo East district on Wednesday night.

Laikipia County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri, said seven of the cows were recovered near Mukogodo woodland.

The commissioner also stated that police officials were continuing on the lookout for cattle rustlers suspected to have come from a neighbouring county, and expressed hope that the remaining animals would be found.

The tragedy has sparked fears of a repeat of the banditry that wracked the Ol Moran area last year, killing dozens of people and forcing others to flee their homes.
