Five people were on Wednesday arrested in possession of 246 rolls of bhang in Lamu County.
The five who were plying the Minjila-Mokowe route were arrested following a tip-off from the public of a vehicle carrying suspicious goods.
“With learnt precision, the officers immediately swung into action, setting up a roadblock at Koreni area where they flagged down the vehicle, a metallic grey Toyota Voxy,” said the police.
The five occupants of the vehicle, three male and two female were escorted by the police to Mokowe police station where a thorough search was conducted.
246 rolls of bhang was found stashed in a suitcase with others being found inside a spare tire.
“Officers attached to DCI Hindi are currently handling the case with the intention of preferring appropriate charges to the suspects,” said the police.
