LAST DANCE: Sauti Sol Rides Out With Electric Performance

Sauti Sol performed their farewell show together, signaling the end of an era for one of the country’s most recognizable musical acts.

The quartet has provided 17 years of pure fun for Kenya and the rest of the world, and now the four band members are going their separate ways in what they call a music hiatus.

Sauti Sol delighted its fans at the Sol Fest, a sold-out performance held in Nairobi between November 2 and 4, 2023.

Despite the hefty ticket prices, the events drew a large crowd.

Kenyan musician Nyashinski, who has collaborated with Sauti Sol, headlined the festival, much to the delight of the audience.

Despite announcing a pause, Nyashinski bowed out with the words “long live Sautisol,” eliciting a raucous response from fans who did not want the band to break up.

“We’ve been rehearsing for our final show for 17 years,” Bien Baraza stated at the Sol Fest finale.

Bien Baraza, Polycarp Otieno, Savara Mudigi, and Austin Chimano captivated the hearts of Kenyans and the rest of the globe with hit after hit, eventually winning international prizes such as Best African Act at the 2014 MTV Europe Music prizes.

They announced a break in May, with its members pursuing individual projects.
